What is Players Cup BMAB?

The Players Cup is a nationwide circuit of Backgammon events where every match is recorded, transcribed, and submitted to the Backgammon Masters Awarding Body (BMAB) for rating. All match videos are posted on YouTube, and results are typically available by the end of the weekend.

Key Features:

  • All Players Participate: Regardless of winning or losing, all participants play every round.

  • Legacy Iron Star: The winner with a perfect 5-0 record earns the prestigious Lifetime Legacy Iron Star.

  • Unlucky Dice Award: The player with the "unluckiest dice" (as determined by ExtremeGammon) will receive a refund of their entry fee.

Player Statistics:

  • Results from the Players Cup contribute to lifetime statistics for the Players Cup, USBGF, BMAB, and the WBGF Backgammon World Ranking.

  • Players can track:

    • Average PR (Performance Rating)

    • Average Win Rate

    • Elo Rating

    • Cube vs. Checker PR

    • Moves and Blunders per Move

About the BMAB:

The Backgammon Masters Awarding Body (BMAB) is an international organization responsible for awarding mastership titles and proficiency level certificates (e.g., Master, Grand Master) based on players’ calculated error rate (PR) in live, clocked matches under tournament conditions.

Mastership titles and proficiency certifications are granted according to established criteria.
