Your registration process will be much easier if you go through these steps first:
1. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT HARDWARE - You must have either a computer with a camera and microphone, or a computer with an external webcam and microphone. If you do not, you will not be able to play in this event. A smart phone as your only device unfortunately will not satisfy the hardware requirements.
2. YOU WILL NEED A PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO PAY YOUR FEES - We are now accepting Paypal & Zelle in addition to Venmo. Paypal and Zelle are preferred. Although you may pay your tournament fees with a mailed bank check, if you plan on playing in a Side Event, you will need a Zelle, Venmo or Paypal account. Any time you send money mark it FAMILY AND FRIENDS, otherwise there will be a fee and I will have to charge it back to you.
3. GATHER YOUR INFORMATION - The Registration Form will ask you a series of questions. If you do not have some of the required software (See “The Technology” under TOURNAMENT DETAILS) leave that part blank on the Registration Form. Here are the questions:
What is your Operating System?
PC Users: Right mouse click the Windows logo in the lower left of your screen. Left mouse click SYSTEMS. Scroll down to WINDOWS and fill in the form with what you see as the Edition.
MAC Users: From the Finder, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner, then scroll down to ABOUT THIS MAC and click again to get the Version number.
What is your SKYPE name? - Open Skype on your computer. In the upper left corner are three horizontal dots (called “ellipse”). Click the ellipse. Click SETTINGS. Near the top you will see your SKYPE NAME. It is most likely a string of gibberish, beginning with "live". Be sure to copy it exactly.
What is your SKYPE email? - Same as above. Skype Email is just below Skype Name.
What is your GridGammon nickname? If you have a GG account, you know it. If you do not, you will select a nickname when you work with your Tech Coach.
What is your Challonge ID? If you have an account, your ID is in the upper right, next to your profile photograph. If you do not have an account, please go to and register for one. It's very easy. It's smart to have an ID that is recognizable as you, i.e. CandaceM instead of Pipgal.
NOTE: You must be a member of the USBGF to play in this tournament, including overseas players. Membership comes as low as $40, is good for a year and opens the opportunity to play in dozens of online events only available to members. Click here to get to the USBGF website. Use the Membership dropdown on the toolbar.
*** You may first complete and submit your Registration, then go to the USBGF website and join.
