Your registration process will be much easier if you go through these steps first:

1.  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT HARDWARE - You must have either a computer with a camera and microphone, or a computer with an external webcam and microphone.  If you do not, you will not be able to play in this event.  A smart phone as your only device unfortunately will not satisfy the hardware requirements.

2.  YOU WILL NEED A VERIFIED VENMO ACCOUNT TO PAY YOUR FEES - Although you may pay your tournament fees with a mailed bank check, if you plan on playing in a Side Event, you will have to have a Venmo account.  It takes two business days to link it to your bank account, so it’s wise to set it up now.  In the alternative, you can link to a credit card for immediate verification, but your payments will incur a 3% fee.

Installing Venmo to your smart phone is incredibly easy.  The app is in your Play Store.  It is a fat white “V” in a blue square.

When paying through Venmo, look for either GammonAssociatesWest (all one word) or pipgal@ca.rr.com to make payment.  You do not have to be “my friend” on Venmo to send moneyJust click the blue circle icon at the bottom right of your smart phone's screen and make the payment.  Your registration cannot be processed until you have paid all tournament fees.

3.  GATHER YOUR INFORMATION - The Registration Form will ask you a series of questions.  If you do not have some of the required software (See “The Technology” under TOURNAMENT DETAILS) leave that part blank on the Registration Form and your Tech Coach will help you.  Here are the questions:

What is your Operating System?

PC Users:  Right mouse click the Windows logo in the lower left of your screen.  Left mouse click SYSTEMS.  Scroll down to WINDOWS and fill in the form with what you see as the Edition.

MAC Users: From the Finder, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner, then scroll down to ABOUT THIS MAC and click again to get the Version number.

What is your VENMO email? - Open Venmo on your phone.  Click the three horizontal lines (called “hamburger”) in the upper left corner.  Click SETTINGS (at the bottom).  Click EDIT PROFILE.  Your Email is the second to the last item.

What is your VENMO user name? - Same as above, only Username is the very last item in the EDIT PROFILE.

What is your SKYPE name? - Open Skype on your computer.  In the upper left corner are three horizontal dots (called “ellipse”).  Click the ellipse.  Click SETTINGS.  Near the top you will see your SKYPE NAME.

What is your SKYPE email? - Same as above.  Skype Email is just below Skype Name.

What is your GridGammon nickname?  If you have a GG account, you know it.  If you do not, you will select a nickname when you work with your Tech Coach.

What is your Challonge ID?  If you have an account, your ID is in the upper right, next to your profile photograph.  If you do not have an account, please go to www.challonge.com and register for one.  It's very easy.  It's smart to have an ID that is recognizable as you, i.e. CandaceM instead of Pipgal.

NOTE:  You must be a member of the USBGF to play in this tournament.  (See Daily Updates for explanation.)  Membership comes as low as $40, is good for a year and opens the opportunity to play in dozens of online events only available to members.  Click here to get to the USBGF website.  Use the Membership dropdown on the toolbar.
